There is a fear in getting dressed. A fear that maybe our clothes say more about us than we'd like them to, be it conscious or not; that may explain how conflicted I am with my own wardrobe, the wish-I-hadn't-s and the wish-I-could-s. I would like to say that my clothes express my mentality on any given day however, if this were true it gives me great concern as to some of the states I've been in. I saw style as style, but there is more to that burnt out vest than just comfort just as there is a whole train of thoughts behind those sequin leggings that I wish it were still acceptable to wear. Scary, huh.
I worry now that, when I'm baring my legs in a tartan pinafore pulled from the rails in Topshop, or flaunting my midriff in a slogan crop top, I am making a statement about myself that even I am not aware of. I once thought it was just fashion, just something to have fun with and as long as I felt good about it than why should I show interest to what anybody else had to say? Now I'm sat thinking that maybe there's more to that than I had ever dared look into.
