Let's talk about Miley Cyrus

though you probably know as well as I do that she's all I usually talk about.

I don't remember a day in the past 3 months + in which I haven't seen  a couple of hundred posts about Miley Cyrus . She sang about the usage of ecstasy which then became popularised by her song under the alias of 'Molly', she gyrated on a number of household objects in an all white outfit, stripped to a flesh toned, tighter than a Jew's budget, latex two piece and twerked on a foam finger, a teddy bear and a married man all the while being live on camera. More recently, the 20 year old has come under fire after being filmed swinging naked on a wrecking ball by Terry Richardson for her latest music video.

'She's insane,' you say as you light a match.
'Shes on drugs,' you claim as you throw your foam fingers and your teddy bears onto a heap.
'She's a slut,' you all cry into the burning remnants of your Hannah Montana memorabilia,
"She's just being Miley," I laugh, which entails scoring her first billboard hot 100 hit, nearing 14 million twitter followers and breaking a Vevo record TWICE. Yes, that's right, twice in 3 months. So now you tell me, who is really insane? Madonna has been getting naked for the public for longer than Lindsay lohan has sought professional help, Britney has done it, Rihanna does it, Gaga does it, in pop getting naked has been exhausted, it's expected; the equivalent of washing regularly.

And you're talking about it. Everybody has or will talk about it. Is it because Cyrus was once a Disney star? Is it because, without celebrity status, we don't have the same freedoms to do the things which Miley engages in publically, or is it because you just genuinely can't fathom a justification behind nudity other than someone being sexually promiscuous? And what business of yours is it if she is?

Do I think that Miley Cyrus is acting out? As a nineteen year old who was able to rebel from a younger age without having to carry a company or a nations heart on my back no, I do not. In fact, I recall Cyrus wearing a pair of tight black booty shorts while performing on her Wonder World tour in 2009 and shaking her bum on an array of props the same way she did to Thicke last month.
Perhaps Cyrus is twerking from extremity to extremity to make it absolutely clear the words 'Hannah Montana' are never uttered to her again. I'd be speculating if I input that she was perhaps acting in such a manner to win back the attention of a man who was less than faithful to her; who she envisioned herself spending the rest of her life with. But did anybody ever step away from the message boards long enough to think that maybe, JUST maybe, Miley was just growing up, albeit behind a thousand lenses. The truth is that it doesn't really matter what any of us think, we're probably all thinking about it a lot more than she probably does or ever has.
